From the BSS Melbourne:

The Brunei student society welcomed the arrival of the Deputy Minister of Education, Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad bin Pg Hj Abdul Rahman, and his entourage to the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Collin Street, Melbourne.

The Deputy Minister of Education held a meet and greet with the current Bruneian students as well as the in-services students who are studying in Melbourne. Present at the event was the High Commissioner, Haji Adnan, and Cikgu Pengiran Ayyup from the High Commissioners’ office base in Canberra. The purpose of such event being held was to help the Ministry of Education learn more about the health and well beings of the students here as well as answering several questions brought by the students themselves.

The night ended with heartfelt laughter’s and fond memories of the meet and greet because it was also an event whereby all the Bruneian students were able to get together and pose for picture with those who were able to attend that night.

From Melbourne, we the Brunei Student Society Melbourne would like to say thank you for gracing us with your presence and not forgetting to mention we would like to send our regards and love to our families back home in Brunei.

I said it before and I’ll say it again…

Posted on 30/11/200610/02/2023

I’m in a retrospective mood today… Below is a piece I wrote for Asia-inc in 2002. Four years on, we are still struggling to address the same challenges that I outlined. It seems to me that the ICT industry in Brunei is bleeding slowly to death (some are already dead)…

If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?   These guests would create a diverse conversation exploring the intersections of AI, social media, and geo-politics.
