Canon announces Nikon takeover!

TOKYO, April 1st 2010 – Canon Inc. today announced the takeover of Nikon Corporation after several months of clandestine negotiations. It was revealed that as part of the merger, Canon plans to retain Nikon’s line-up of cameras but rebadge them as Cankon. This is part of Canon’s long term strategic plan to introduce a new range of cameras that would double as fax machines. It was also revealed that the top of the range D3x would also be upgraded with coffee making functionality.

Canon, through continued technological innovation with the EOS series, and by strengthening its marketing activities to deliver enhanced product quality and services, will continue its efforts to deliver all-around user satisfaction with an even more attractive lineup of products, contributing to new directions in the future of photographic expression.
