Pics from yesterday’s prize-giving ceremony for BIBD’s Cabaran Anak Brunei event which took place at the Mall, Gadong. I wasn’t able to cover the actual challenge but from the slideshow at the end of the ceremony, it looked like one BONZA event! Next year I’ll be sure to book some time to cover this!

DRAGON Ball proved to be the best out of five teams in the final round of the first ever BIBD Cabaran Anak Brunei held yesterday at Tasek Lama in the capital.

Organised by BIBD in collaboration with Brunei Adventure Recreational Association (BARA), the event kicked off with five finalists – Dragon Ball, Absolute 4, Hercules, Soul X and Anak Brunei – being flagged off on a “Champion Walk” from the BIBD headquarters in the capital to Tasek Lama before hiking through Bukit Salilah where the games were held.

Later, a prize presentation was held at The Mall, Gadong, which was graced by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah and her team mates, who participated in the preliminary round of the BIBD Cabaran Anak Brunei 2009.

Meanwhile, on hand to present the prizes was Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office and BIBD Vice Chairman Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad Haji Daud as the guest of honour.

Also in attendance were 55 other teams who participated in the preliminary round on June 14 and working committee for BIBD Cabaran Anak Brunei, as well as members of the public.

Prior to the prize presentation, BIBD Managing Director Javed Ahmad and BIBD Head of Consumer Division Haji Mohd Rozaiman DSLI Haji Abdul Rahman delivered their respective speeches, during which they thanked all relevant government agencies, participants and other individuals for making the event a success.

Appreciation was also extended to the bank’s corporate partners, Aewon, Ideal Food Industries, BARA, Soon Lee Holdings and Red Crescent Association.

Champion Dragon Ball members each received a 20-inch iMac desktop, while first runner-up Anak Brunei received a Sony Vaio VGN-CS23G laptop, and second runner-up Soul X, a Sony DCR-SX40 handycam. Meanwhile, third and fourth runners-up received a Sony Cybershot DSC-T77 and Sony Cyberhot DCS-W220 respectively.

All five teams were also awarded a one-day Temburong adventure trip.

Following the prize presentation, all teams and invited guests were treated to a high-tea reception at Rizqun International Hotel, where they watched a video presentation and photo slideshow of the two-day sporting event.
