BIBD Commences Its Program Sirah Amal BIBD 1432H/2011M

August 5, 2011 – The month of Ramadhan is the time to enjoy bounty and sharing, with families and loved ones as we open our hearts to prayers as well as giving to the charity with Hari Raya Aidilfitri coming our way, we witness everybody’s enthusiasm in adopting into the festive mood.

In line with this philosophy and reflection on Ramadhan, with the festive spirit of giving in mind, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Berhad (BIBD), for the second year commences its “Program Sirah Amal BIBD” today. Today’s event marks the launch of this heartwarming initiative, in which more than 110 houses will be visited throughout all districts in the holy month of Ramadhan.

“Program Sirah Amal BIBD” was initiated by BIBD CSR Team with the combined efforts and resources by generous BIBD employees through internal fund raising. “In this program, we aim to brighten up the lives of the underprivileged families so they can celebrate this festive occasion with smiles and peace of mind”, said Hjh Nurul Akmar Jaafar, Head of BIBD’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Today’s commencement of “Program Sirah Amal BIBD” starts off with the handover of food hamper boxes to a representatives from Greenfrog Management Services, who will be assisting BIBD in facilitating the distribution of the donations.

BIBD together with Greenfrog started their visits in areas of Kg Jangsak, Kg Sg Tampoi, Kg Lugu, Kg Katimahar, Kg Kulapis, Kg Mulaut, Kg Masin, Kg Bebatik and Kg Batu Ampar. BIBD’s Acting Managing Director / Chief Financial Officer, Hajah Noraini bte Hj Sulaiman and BIBD personnels have gracefully joined and shared the excitement as they set out together to distribute the donations.

According to Hjh Nurul Akmar Jaafar, Head of BIBD’s Corporate Social Responsibility, “It is hope that this year’s ‘Sirah’ or journey will help seize the opportunity for inner-reflection and self-realisation where Ramadhan is for normal people, and to be able to understand and experience the hunger and anxieties of poor and less fortunate people.”

“This will allow us to be grateful of the blessings that have been bestowed upon those that are better-off. This also displays BIBD’s role in continuously listening and caring for the needs to part of our community”, she added. This year, apart from the visits to underpriviliged families, BIBD has taken another step to provide donation to the family members from the recent fire victims in Kg Ayer.

BIBD CSR has always been underscoring the values of caring for the society and will always commit to ensure the objectives of BIBD CSR are met and is aligned with the guidelines of Islam and also the benefit of nurturing the society’s needs be it the underprivileged, young entrepreneurs, environmental preservation or research and studies. The first “Program Sirah Amal BIBD” has opened a lot of hearts and BIBD is honored to have become the pioneers in such initiatives.
