As part of BIBD’s initiatives to foster better relationships with communities around the country, BIBD today held an Ibadah Korban event in celebration of Hari Raya Aidil Adha at the Masjid Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit located in Mukim Kilanas.

A total of five buffalos were sacrificed and distributed to more than thirty recipients, comprising of underprivileged members of the community among others. BIBD also contributed 150 Yaasin books to the Mosque.

Present as guest of honour was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat [email protected], Deputy Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Body of BIBD and the Deputy State Mufti. Also attending the event at Masjid Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit was Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman, Deputy Managing Director of BIBD, along with BIBD senior management and staff.

The event commenced with the recital of prayers to initiate the distribution of the processed korban meat and wrapped up with Doa Selamat by Awang Haji Rozisham bin Haji Chuchu, Mosque Officer.

The Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism is pleased to announce the Brunei Gastronomy Week which will be held for the second time from the 23rd February to the 11th March 2018. This is an annual event initiated by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and the Brunei Tourism Board. Brunei Gastronomy Week is organized in conjunction with the 34th National Day celebrations where the Ministry will be collaborating with several hotels and restaurants in Brunei Darussalam including Airlines, Association of Travel Agents, Brunei Association of Hotels, Hospitality Schools and other private sectors. The target audience predominantly consists of local as well as international visitors who are currently in the country.

The objective of the event is to celebrate Brunei and create an awareness on the Bruneian Cuisine; to encourage more hotels and restaurants to serve the Bruneian cuisines in a more sophisticated way; to further improve on the taste and elevate the presentation of Bruneian dishes to be served as part of a fine dining experience or at receptions held within or outside the country; to provide a unique Bruneian gastronomical experience to visitors within or outside Brunei.

The highlight of the Brunei Gastronomy week this year would be foods wrapped in banana (or other) leaves. Banana leaves used for cooking, wrapping and food-serving in a wide range of cuisines in tropical and subtropical areas. It adds a nice aroma to the food and improves the taste of some foods. Bruneian cuisines which are typically wrapped in banana leaves are such as Pais Daging, Pais Udang, Pais Ikan and others. They are either grilled, barbecued, steamed, or oven cooked finished. In addition, during the Brunei Gastronomy Week also encourages ethnic groups of Brunei in all 4 districts to take the opportunity to showcase their local ethnic cuisine.

His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, and Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall, enjoyed a short visit to Brunei on Thursday 2 November 2017.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed at Brunei International Airport by His Royal Highness Prince Haji al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince, together with Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah.   The British Royalty were then introduced to Senior Ministers and other members of the Brunei government before passing an Honour Guard provided by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Richard Lindsay, his wife Mrs Xanthe Lindsay and senior staff members from the British High Commission were also present to greet Their Royal Highnesses.

Their Royal Highnesses travelled to the Istana Nurul Iman where they were welcomed by His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and by Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha.

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales had a private audience with HM The Sultan, while The Duchess of Cornwall had a separate audience with The Raja Isteri.   This was followed by a High Tea with other members of Brunei’s Royal family.

The British High Commissioner, HE Richard Lindsay said:

“This was a short, but meaningful visit.  His Royal Highness congratulated His Majesty on His Golden Jubilee and they had an excellent private discussion. The warmth of the personal relationship between the Prince of Wales and His Majesty; and between The Duchess of Cornwall and The Raja Isteri was very evident throughout.”

He went on to say “this visit reflects the nature of the strong and enduring friendship and partnership between our two countries”.

Following the tea, Their Royal Highnesses departed Brunei for Kualur Lumpur for their first visit to Malaysia, and the next stop on their regional Commonwealth tour.

A number of major events for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne were underlined at a media conference held this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office Building, Jalan Perdana Menteri.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as the Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee of Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne, in the media conference also expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as the Patron of Advisory Committee of the Golden Jubilee Celebration on His Royal Highness’ continuous commitment in ensuring the smooth running of the preparation and main event.

Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Acting Minister of Religious Affairs as the Deputy Co-Chairman of the Religious Programmes and Kesyukuran Ceremony, shared the information on the religious activities held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee, in particular in line with the Fardhu Maghrib and Isya prayers as well as Doa Kesyukuran at Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

This was followed by information on the Golden Jubilee Procession Ceremony shared by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education as the Co-Chairman of the Co-Chairman of the Sectoral Committee for the Procession of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.

The launching ceremony of the Sungai Kebun Bridge, procession of the decorated floats and fireworks are among the main event which will enliven the celebration of the Golden Jubilee. During the media conference, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development as the Co-Chairman of the Jawatankuasa Perasmian dan Peringatan Kenang-Kenangan explained that the launching ceremony will be held on the 14th of October 2017 starting from 7.30 in the evening at the Tarindak area in Jalan Residency.

The launching of Eco-Corridor and Junjung Kasih as well as Kesyukuran ceremonies with the citizen and residents from the four districts will be held on the 22nd October 2017 starting from Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien to Sungai Kedayan Eco-Corridor. The matter was explained by the Minister of Home Affairs.

A number of major events for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne were underlined at a media conference held this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office Building, Jalan Perdana Menteri.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as the Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee of Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne, in the media conference also expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as the Patron of Advisory Committee of the Golden Jubilee Celebration on His Royal Highness’ continuous commitment in ensuring the smooth running of the preparation and main event.

Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Acting Minister of Religious Affairs as the Deputy Co-Chairman of the Religious Programmes and Kesyukuran Ceremony, shared the information on the religious activities held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee, in particular in line with the Fardhu Maghrib and Isya prayers as well as Doa Kesyukuran at Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

This was followed by information on the Golden Jubilee Procession Ceremony shared by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education as the Co-Chairman of the Co-Chairman of the Sectoral Committee for the Procession of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.

The launching ceremony of the Sungai Kebun Bridge, procession of the decorated floats and fireworks are among the main event which will enliven the celebration of the Golden Jubilee. During the media conference, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development as the Co-Chairman of the Jawatankuasa Perasmian dan Peringatan Kenang-Kenangan explained that the launching ceremony will be held on the 14th of October 2017 starting from 7.30 in the evening at the Tarindak area in Jalan Residency.

The launching of Eco-Corridor and Junjung Kasih as well as Kesyukuran ceremonies with the citizen and residents from the four districts will be held on the 22nd October 2017 starting from Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien to Sungai Kedayan Eco-Corridor. The matter was explained by the Minister of Home Affairs.

Also present were Co-Chairpersons of the Executive Committee of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations: Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana, Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Grand Chamberlain as the Deputy Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations Executive Committee; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi Bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, member of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations Executive Committee; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohd. Roselan bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as the Joint-Secretary and Head of the Secretariat Executive Committee of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations; Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, Commissioner of Police and member of the Golden Jubilee Executive Committee; and Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Mohd. Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and member of the Golden Jubilee Executive Committee.
